A Story of Two People With Vision

This is the property David and Sandra Burns bought on 19th Street near Dupont Circle in about 1974. They were true urban pioneers in a somewhat shady neighborhood.

They tore this shack down, and hired an architect to do the structural drawings of the house they had sketched out on graph paper that they borrowed from me.

They took the lowest bidder on construction, and that company went bankrupt in 1976 building the property.

I was 18 in 1977 when the legal case went to trial and Carolyn (who I did not meet until 4 years later) was the court reporter on the case.

We’ve been married now for 40 years.
