We settled on the new place on January 11, but the previous owners (elderly) were not out until the 14th.
A litany of work done to date: Put 7 new locks on all exterior doors. Got paint, floor and bathroom estimates. One paint guy quoted a price over twice the price of the very competent team I hired. He was dismissed as a fantasist. One bathroom guy gave me a six-figure quote, and was similarly dismissed as a fantasist. Hired painter to paint all of interior, including two car garage. Picture holes patched, pink wall paper in massive master bathroom removed. Painting in every room ongoing, but excellent. Hired floor guy to remove wall to wall carpet on second floor and replace with solid oak flooring, sand, stain, and three coats of poly. Floors all in and stained, and poly goes in week ahead. Chose interior paint colors, and decided to paint oak stairs and rails. Framed in pipe area in basement. Put on house numbers at bottom of driveway and on house, lined kitchen cabinets. Had septic scoped and line straightened and new clean-out riser installed. Had corner shower pulled and scrapped, patched drywall and replaced powder room floor, pulled four bathroom Corian counters and replaced with granite and new sinks. New towel bars, bathroom lights, and toilet roll dispensers throughout. Established lot lines on two sides and marked with stakes and 1,000 feet of string. Installed 12x10 shed, put 50 cubic yards of mulch in back yard over landscape fabric, removed trash from woods and stray junk from basement and had hauled, installed two bird feeders and temporary dog trolley. Replaced ceiling fan in sun room. Had small engine guy come and review, start, and maintain lawn tractor, chipper, leaf vacuum, self-propelled mower. Ordered invisible fence to self-install, and hard fence for 20x30 area under deck. Pressure washed outside brick, got appointment for estimate on 40-feet of paver path to the back to match the front. Pulled four massive bathroom mirrors and replaced with four smaller mirrors, and ordered sliding glass doors on two tubs. Replaced glass door and glass sidelight in master shower. Replaced shower heads and taps in three bathrooms. Ordered and installed fake rocks over propane and well risers.
Might be able to move in a month…. some of this work is ongoing and not all work is listed.
