Weights and Measures

Teddy Moritz put the tape to a 12-pound groundhog and found a 12-inch chest.

These animals are built a bit like bags of Jello.  I have measured groundhogs as big as 18 pounds with 14-inch chests -- about the same size as fox or an in-ground raccoon.

What's a fox with an 11.5 inch chest look like?  See here.

  1. Fat content? I'm reminded of Doc Watson's Groundhog song, particularly the line that says "Meat's in the cupboard and butter's in the churn".
