I am a very low-tech fisherman. My Eagle Claw 4-piece rod (spin/fly) and reel were $25, and the plugs and lures (and many of the lead weights) are lost gear gleaned off branches and shore weeds as I wander with kayak, bicycle, camera, and dogs.
Not much fishing today, however, as a week of rain has left the river the color of mud.
