Lincoln’s War on Obfuscation

Abraham Lincoln was not much for hiding behind language, and would sometime pose a riddle to new staffers to underscore the point. 

 "If you call a tail a leg," he would ask, "how many legs does a dog have?

 "Five? 

“No, four. Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg."
