Norway Cracks Down on Bulldogs and Cavaliers

A three judge judicial panel in Norway
has unanimously ruled that breeding
purebred English Bulldogs and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels is contrary to the Animal Welfare Act of that country.

The decision leaves open the door to “serious and scientifically based cross-breeding” to reduce deformity and increase genetic diversity.

The three judge panel included a veterinarian and a geneticist, as well as an experienced District judge.

Opinion here (in Norwegian).
