I am 63 years old.

58 years ago yesterday, the 24th Amendment outlawing poll taxes was ratified.

$2.12 in 1947 is worth about $26.50 today. Not a trivial sum.

Note this was a MALE poll tax. Poll taxes were not always levied on women.
