A Dog Sells Madonna's Old House for $31 Million

The Associated Press reported on Thursday that handlers for Gunther VI, a German shepherd, have put the Tuscan-style villa he lives in on the market for $31.75 million

Gunther VI inherited the palatial Miami waterfront property from his grandfather, Gunther IV.

The trust fund that paid for the villa was left to Gunther III, Gunther IV's father, by his owner, a German countess called Karlotta Liebenstein, who died in 1992.

The Gunther family of privileged pooches and their handlers have since enjoyed a luxury lifestyle, including private jet trips to glitzy enclaves around the world and chef-prepared gourmet meals.

Gunther VI has been dubbed the wealthiest dog in the world, with a trust now worth almost $500 million.
