After the Flood

Last week’s storm and follow-on flooding has left the woods near the house looking like it was bombed.  The water rose 15 feet over the normal bank line, I think. The water has now mostly abated, but the paths are as slick as oiled glass.

Large numbers of trees are down or are shattered along the Monocacy with the understory vegetation flattened and combed by fast moving water.

Lots of small dead fish are on the path, and hawks and a vulture are doing cleanup. The night crew will, no doubt, include fox, possum, and raccoon.
