The culprit: Rabbit Viral Haemorrhagic Disease (types 1 and 2) and Myxomatosis.
Of the nine mammals for which trends can be produced from BBS counts, three have increased significantly in the UK as a whole since 1995: Grey Squirrel (14%), Roe Deer (86%) and Reeves' Muntjac (172%).Two mammals have declined significantly: Rabbit (64%) and Red Fox (44%).
