I’ve got a small problem with the Nikon P610. By this I mean I was walking through the woods with the camera over my back, and in some kind of freak accident, a vine got caught on a tripod mount and ripped a quarter-sized hole in the middle base of the housing next to the battery door.
I’ve patched it with glue and a bit of plastic cut from an ice tea jug.
The camera still works, but it may not be long for this world. Going to add tape across the battery area, and we’ll see how it goes.

I've known the same but couldn't entertain the ingenuity you've used.
