My brother and I biked down to the White House today to see the Black Lives Matter full-street painting on 16th Street going to the White House.
St. John’s Church, whose clergy were tear gassed when Trump thugs invaded this private property, now proudly sports a Black Lives Matter sign. The intersection is now permanently named Black Lives Matter Plaza. The AFL-CIO has draped their building with an enormous Black Lives Matter banner.
All the graffiti in Lafayette Park is off the statues as I said it would be in a day or two — a simple power wash.
The extra fencing is gone, except for a very short 20’ section that seemed more symbolic, as it was hung with signs. The huge number of signs that had festooned the old fence were mostly collected by the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Everything mostly back to normal except for the huge (and likely lasting) signs saying “Black Lives Matter.”
