These are beautiful romantic shots.
In fact, fox almost never eat fish, duck, or goose. Most fox live exclusively on mice, supplemented with the occasional frog, insect, bird seed spilled from feeders, tossed garbage, road kill, earthworms, berries, and the rare bird egg.
None of that is very photographic or romantic, of course, and so we tend to get shots like these in the picture books.
