Keep Calm and Carry On, American Style
A U.S. Postal Service postman makes his delivery rounds in Santa Rosa, California after the fires.
Drone video by Douglas Thron, taken October 10, 2017.
Your post title sounds mocking. Empathy would be more appropriate. What is the postie supposed to do? My guess is, he or she is local and doing the rounds is anything but calm. The homes left standing still need their mail delivered, and the mailboxes left standing may provide a hope of communication when phone lines and cell towers are down.
Heartbreaking. It looks like a warzone. My brother lives outside of Walnut Creek at Mt. Diablo, and told me there are now fires visible from their house, on the side of the bay they weren't expected to reach. I hope so.
Jennifer, I am assuming you do not know the phrase or its origins? See >> https://terriermandotcom.blogspot.com/2012/03/story-of-keep-calm-and-carry-on.html
I live in the affected area. My home/neighborhood are not affected. This video has made the rounds on FB, and it helps lighten the mood a little. Thanks, Patrick.
