Over the weekend, I visited the statue of Balto the sled dog in Central Park. Balto was the lead Siberian husky on the final leg of the 1925 diptheria serum run from Anchorage, Alaska, to Nenana, Alaska, which has been immortalized by the Iditarod Trail sled dog race.
