Great Falls, Virginia Kayakers With the Nikon P610

A few shots taken at Great Falls today, showing what the 60-X zoom on the Nikon P610 can do. This was all hand held point-and-shoot.  Great Falls is the "Niagra of the South," and lies just above Mather Gorge which ends about a mile from my house. The river falls about 76 feet in less than a mile, making this one of the greatest white water boating locations in the world, and the only one that I know of so close to an urban area.

Below is a shot of a Marsh Mallow flower taken at the C & O Canal earlier in the day.  Same shot, same location, no tripod, point and shoot.
