Yes I have NEW information, especially toward raptor biologists and falconers. Your information may be partly correct as toward goshawks(NG) thriving in forests. However you should problem think of what is a forest- as there can be many definitions. i have lived with NG for around 18 years near where they nest and also where they migrate on their southern or relatively southern quarters. Yet I have never observed a NG nest. And i don't care to. So i can't give any figures or stats on how many NG do not migrate out of nesting areas- and neither can any ornithologists or raptor biologists! I will guess that many (most) NG mirgate out. Therefor I will guess that the forests are not areas for NG to thrive, but to nest. NG love the cities and suburbs and farming lands holding horses, cattle, and sheep as long as there is plenty of greenery. Please heed - www.goshawkspugetsound.blogspot.com www.goshawksoftexas.blogspot.com which includes the goshawks of Anacortes, Wa., for 2010. And www.goshawksoftucson2010-11.blogspot.com. The word OAK meaning Oak trees is synonomous with NG. Meaning all areas of the northeast U.S. That is from North central Pa., all the way to Baltimore and southward. the Best - Nelson Briefer- Anacortes, WA.
