Information on working terriers, dogs, natural history, hunting, and the environment, with occasional political commentary as I see fit. This web log is associated with the Terrierman.com web site.
The best we can figure, my Shorty is a JR/Dachsund mix. She looks like your dogs, but lower and longer. And she's ruled this roost for the past 11 years.
I found her on the street when she was about 4-6 months old. She jumped up into my car and faced down Monkey, a 3 yo Dobie, right there in my lap. She was only 10 lbs of snarling spittle, but she assumed command at that time, and has stayed in control of up to a dozen dogs at a time. She humps all of my dogs, mostly pitbulls, except for Scruffy, a Shih-Tzu/Dachsund mix.
I could go on & on, but I won't. I like this blog because it showcases Shorty's JR heritage, and because I can imagine that if we lived in the woods of N Virginia (Like I did almost 40 years ago) we'd be hunting ground quarry just like you and yours.

And that's all he needed to say!

Dogs know signs of tyranny when they see it
