Darwin's Last Surviving Egg
This egg, belonging to the Common Tinamou, and collected in Uruguay, was recently discovered in Cambridge University's Zoology Museum by volunteer cataloger volunteer Liz Wetton. Signed by Charles Darwin himself, it is one of the 16 bird eggs Darwin colleced during his trip between 1831 and 1836. All were thought to be lost, but this one survives and it was apparently cracked by Darwin himself when he placed it in too small a box. >> To read more
