Friends in Washington

Down at the local boutique dog bakery (called Dogma and located next door to the Starbucks), there is a T-shirt permanently for sale which features Harry Truman's famous line: "If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog.”

That's advice taken by a lot of presidents.

For a tour of past terriers in the White House (they have dominated, I think I can say) SEE HERE.

I don't know, but George Bush's Scottish Terrier just bit a reporter!

I think my suggestion for the Obamas, based upon Malia's preferences is probably a better choice. Malia wants a goldendoodle. Michelle wants a rescue. I suggest they rescue a goldendoodle, or get a goldendoodle service that didn't make the grade to be a service dog. The latter would be a great idea, because it would already be trained and socialized.

Didn't Teddy Roosevelt have a terrier (a bull terrier?) that bit everyone?

Ha. A Reuters reporter too. This isn't Barnie's first taste of flesh either -- he's nailed Busg once. I like this dog!

Yet, Teddy Roosevelt has a dog named Pete (sometimes spelled Peet) that ripped the pants of the French Ambassador who he chased up a tree.

Gotta love the terriers, eh?

Best dog for the White House for sure!
