I am not sure where you heard that ...kichi-fox ::

I am not sure where you heard that story but it is simply NOT true.

The bulldog history is well known and is a sad thing. It's actual genetic provenance is entirely British and is due to a lot of pug shoved into the pool back in the 1850s and 60s, but a lot is also due to careful selection by show ring pretenders who had no purose for the dog but to create a bizzare amusement.

What you may have heard (it was not written) is a corrupted version of how FRENCH bulldog were created -- by sending the crappiest of English dogs to France. In fact, this is how a lot of dogs were created -- by exporting the garbage, where the garbage became the new standard.

P.PBurnshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05781540805883519064noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7684843.post-83636500412784303992010-06-12T03:55:47.188-04:002010-06-12T03:55:47.188-04:00The English Bulldog was originally bred by the Fre...The English Bulldog was originally bred by the French as an insult to England.

So at the time the bowlegged, slobbery, flatulent dog represented their idea of England

But I get your point.kichi-foxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07025581016870762616noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7684843.post-41915731671410390732010-03-14T17:10:05.185-04:002010-03-14T17:10:05.185-04:00Dunno. There are a lot of places that rehab old victorian taxidermy cabinets and sell the stuff to collectors. A fabulous place in Paris, and another in London. Could be a modern "fake" but I think I would have remembered that.

PPBurnshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05781540805883519064noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7684843.post-45758642824926891122010-03-14T10:38:56.749-04:002010-03-14T10:38:56.749-04:00Could you please tell me where the specific image ...Could you please tell me where the specific image of a canary in the coffin came from?
