Then, while on vacation in Arizona, a bat flew into her mouth.
Bats are a prime vector for rabies, and so she quickly signed up for health insurance, and then went in to get a series of four rabies shots.
A few weeks later, the medical bills started pouring in, asking for a total of $20,749, because her new health insurance policy had a 30-day waiting period before she could receive treatments covered by the plan.
