“It’s Not Incest the Way We Do It”

The magic computer in my pocket tells me that:

Consumer DNA testing services, like 23andMe, along with research from the UK Biobank, suggest that incest is more prevalent than previously believed. Research from the UK Biobank, for example, found that 1 in every 7,000 participants was born to parents who were first-degree relatives (siblings or a parent and child), according to Healthcare Communications Network.

Huh.

That means, in the US, there are over 48,000 people in the US that are the product of close incest.

Wow.

The number of votes that ultimately decided the 2020 election across three battleground states was just 43,000.

Huh.

And 48,000?

That’s about 20 times more people born from very close incest than people actually entering the largest dogs shows in the US.

What made me look up data on the prevalence of human incest?

Well, I was trying to find a root source for the stupidity routinely evinced by AKC pedigree dog breeders.

I mean, *surethere are a lot of stupid and ignorant people.

You know how stupid and ignorant the average person is?

Well, HALF are more stupid and ignorant than that!

But…. the level of stupidity and ignorance evinced by AKC pedigree dog breeders seems … special.

What could it be?

I mean, this obsession with “genetic superiority” and coat color sounds familiar.

Where have I heard that before?

Oh right!  The sister-fuckers at the KKK.

And then it occurred to me that the folks breeding “superior dogs” in a “closed registry” might spring from the same rootstock as the “superior people” whose dating pool is their family reunion.

Is that it?  Is the root cause of the brain damage and dysfunction we see among the “pedigree people” due to “close breeding” within their own families?

I don’t know.

Look, I’m a demographer by training, and I *know* that correlation is not causality, and that the numbers I’ve stood up here are not even correlation — just numbers.

That said, I’m trying to be compassionate

If people are brain damaged, through no fault of their own, we should not heap insult upon disability. No one asked to be born the product of close, vigorous incest.

And, truth be told, while not exactly Occam’s Razor, the jaw-dropping incest numbers *do* explain quite a lot.

OH, I’m wrong?

For reasons?

No doubt.  πŸ‘

Tell me *all* about it.

That said, I only ask that the vigorous defenders of incest and closed gene pools and registries stop breeding themselves.

As supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes put it, “Three generations of imbeciles is enough.

Or as I put it, in my more graceful and gracious phrasing, “Thank you for not breeding.”

You see?  I really am nice. πŸ˜ƒ
