Wood Ducks In the Yard

I was just out feeding the dogs and walking them around a bit as I checked over the yard, when I noticed two larger birds winging through the upper branches. Not a hawk or owl, and far too small for an eagle or vulture. Morning Dove?

I stopped and let my eyes adjust. Were those DUCKS sitting on those two high tree branches?

I walked back to the house to get my camera, and lazily walked back, doubting whether the birds would still be there, but they were — two Wood Ducks. Nice! I’ve never gotten a shot of them high in the trees before, and certainly not on my own property. The Owl Box might make for a very good Wood Duck nest box as well. I would not feel it was a lesser occupant.
