First Rat Snake Has Hatched

The first of the Rat Snake babies has hatched! I released him or her on a southern slope covered with pachysandra away from where I work the dogs. Hopefully as many as six more to come.

Rat snakes mostly eat insects, frogs and mice, and can grow to over 6 feet long.
