Solid Ice Out

This poem seems to have my number this morning.

‘Antarctica' by Derek Mahon, from 'New Selected Poems (2011)' edited by Peter Fallon.

I am alone in the house, except for the dogs, and I have explained to them that Shackleton and his crew ate their dogs when the going got tough.

They cocked their heads, and did not reply, but I can see them thinking… and watching.
