When Shooting the Dog Was Socially Acceptable

This gun maker existed between 1890 and 1898, when the modern “safety” bicycle was just getting popular, and when stray and semi-feral dogs were everywhere and rabies vaccination was so rare as to be virtually nonexistent.

I have no idea what a “book agent” is, but apparently death without trial was socially acceptable.
