Fifty-five Inches!

Auctions are amazing.

They’re an incredible monument to lost time and fortunes, get rich in “collectibles” schemes, monomania obsessions, and forgotten eras of lost Hollywood stars, brittle books, bad art, 30-person china sets, and odd tools and devices.

This morning’s treasure for viewing was a 3,000 piece early video camera collection.

Wow! I think Pfizer makes a product for that now.

My favorite, however, were two (!) 55-inch advertising measurement sticks among the 36” yard sticks advertising paint, insurance, upholstery, funeral services, dry cleaning, and small engines.

The 55” sticks said:

55 inches!  Lay this across the front seat of a 1937 HUDSON or TERRAPLANE and close both doors … then try it with any other car!

The back of the stick said what every terrierman will tell you:  “Measure the things you can SEE!”

Yes indeed.

Chest size, chest size, chest size.
