Paddling the Canal

Oddly, I've never kayaked on the C&O Canal, but I cured that today, paddling about five and a half miles, starting at Violette's Lock. 

I was testing the notion that I could go downriver from here, on the Potomac, and then paddle up the canal back to the car, starting at Pennyfield Lock. It’s a possible alternative to biking back to the car, though biking back gives me a better put-in higher up the river at Riley’s Lock or (better) Edward’s Ferry.
