Blue Eggs in a Smashed Nest

Upside down nest found in the dog’s yard this morning, with still-wet yolks. Robin is my guess. Solid nest with grass, vine, plastic, and mud.

The eggs are blue as blue is an intermediate color between the press of predation and killing heat — dark enough to blend in under predator eyes, but light enough to not overheat in the mottled light of a forest canopy.
