A Northern Virginia Coyote bit three people and two dogs and then bit a cop who shot it dead.
The Coyote was almost certainly rabid.
Rabies is very real in this area, and why I use a low-cost snare on raccoons, which (let me assure you) can turn around in their own skin.
Human attacks by coyotes are quite rare, but they do occur, almost always due to rabies.
A rabid coyote is my nightmare.
