Swallows Do Make a Spring

Tree Swallows are up from Mexico and Florida, and are taking over the nesting boxes at a local Audubon sanctuary.

Deep plastic entrance guards, metal poles, metal baffles, netting, and even barbed wire discourage raccoons, possums, and snakes from nest predation — a thumb on the scale of Mother Nature to preserve a bit of balance in a habitat unnaturally loaded with raccoon and possum.  Pictures taken with my old Nikon P610.
