This is what a crowded Saturday looks like on the C&O Canal; river on one side, and canal on the other, and wildlife and bicycle path in between.
I saw Ted Koppel walking near Great Falls -- he's got 16 acres nearby.
The flowers on the side of the tow path are Dame's Rocket, Hesperis matronalis. It's a European flower introduced in the area in early 1600s, and it spreads pretty easily.
