As Predicted

I predicted free charging stations at Starbucks for electric cars 13 years ago

This is right outside Potomac Village Starbucks.

I wonder how long that will happen though; who pays for that electricity? In recent years gas stations (here) have taken to routinely charging for AIR to refill a tire; I can hardly imagine that electricity would be free for long.

Who's paying for the electricity? All those customers who are seeing price increases by Starbucks - who 'blames' the increase on labor costs and supply chain issues. HA! I'll stick with my local coffee shop and support local small business

Starbucks is not paying for this; it just happens to be located in front of their shop. I thought the thing was put in as a loss-leader by the mall developer (bakery, several restaurants, gourmet store, hardware store, grocery store, etc.), and perhaps a loss-leader by the charging company who is looking to expand its name (Potomac *is* where you will be seen by CNN and others), but in fact it seems the thing pays for itself as an advertising kiosk. See >> https://voltacharging.com/ With electricity at about 8 cents a kwH, and direct mail $2 an impression, it seems ads alone will pay for the new “gas”.
