War Pigeons

Carrier pigeons were a critical communication link used by all sides in WWI and World War II.

Dogs were sometimes employed to carry pigeons from one side of a battlefield to another, and pigeons often parachuted in with men who then released them to notify their commanders that they had landed safely and/or under fire.
