Finding a Dog In Rescue

People tell me they can’t find a dog in rescue. More about my recent experience later, but Gator is a year and a half old friendly beagle mix at the Humane Society of Warren County, Virginia (aka Front Royal).

Looking for a dog? Petfinder.com will deliver possibles daily. Search will narrow it down by area, size, coat, age, breed, type, sex.

Be willing to drive 100 miles and give yourself at least two months of daily looking (made easy with the email), and things will sort themselves out.

Lots of people complain about rescues being too picky about homes and making it almost impossible to adopt from them. So, I always suggest Craigslist. You can get very nice pets from owners looking to get rid of their (no longer small and cute) dogs.
