Fewer Milk Cows and More Milk



Improved efficiency in milk production has enabled the U.S. dairy industry to produce 186 billion pounds of milk from 9.2 million cows in 2007, as compared to only 117 billion pounds of milk from 25.6 million cows in 1944.

  1. ...much to the detriment of the cows and our planet, via the industrial production system for which these cows were bred.
    these kinds of highly specialized bred cows don't survive well on pasture.....sad.
