Raise This Dog in Shoe Box!

Anyone remember these ads from the back of comic books and Boy's Life?

Dean Studios was a place that specialized in retouching and colorizing photos. You had to sell their services to your neighbors in order to qualify for a "tea cup" chihuahua or miniature monkey

The ads were such a deceptive scam they were ended by the Federal Trade Commission.

Dean Studios still exists in Des Moines, Iowa, by the way.

  1. Actually Dean Studios went out of business in 1980 and at that time they were a legit photo business my mom worked at. There is another business, started by one individual, who has tried to capitalize on their name but it is not the same business.
