The First Winner of the Irish Cup

This greyhound dog is Peerless de Wet, born in 1902 and winner of the 1905 inaugural Irish Cup, which was run at Ferry Bridge, Clounanna, County Limerick. This picture was taken in January of 1906.

The dog was owned by R.F. Phelan, who named the dog after General Christiaan Rudolf de Wet, a Boer General.
