Wild Persimmons

The Wild Paw Paws appear to be all gone -- fallen and eaten by wildlife -- but the wild persimmons are plentiful if you know where to look.

Between deer, turkey, acorns, fish, beaver, geese, ducks, walnuts, doves, squirrels, snakes, groundhogs, turtles, and raccoons you could eat pretty well living off the land around here; a point that did not escape the notice of the Dogue Indians, or the very first colonists from Europe.
