I did my good deed of the day this July 4th. This large rat snake was stretched out across the highway. I thought he was a bit of bicycle tire in the road, and I rolled over him without hitting him (straddling him with my car tires). The fellow behind me did the same. It was a minor miracle that this snake did not get hit, as he was over 5 feet.
I pulled over, walked back, and tailed him off the road toward a frog-choked swamp a few hundred yards away. May he live long and prosper despite leaving a musky stink on me. One more good reason I keep Clorox wipes in the car.
