Hello Dolly!

Dolly was the first cloned sheep
-- hatched in a closet 20 years ago. Dolly lived for six and a half years and gave birth to several lambs herself.

The techniques developed in the creation of Dolly have since been used to copy valuable livestock and make transgenic animals but, perhaps more importantly, the creation of Dolly hinted that cells could be reprogrammed and used to treat human and other animal diseases. In sum, nothing has really been the same since.
