There used to be a big alley next to an abandoned building which now houses a Dean and DeLuca in Georgetown where cheese is priced at $32 a pound. Bask then the alley, now a semi-covered cafe and a cobbled walkway down to the C&O canal, was used as a trash transfer location. Thirty five years ago, I used to rat this alley with the late, great Barney who was a "college dump" rescue dog I picked up on the mean streets of Oberlin, Ohio. Barney lived to 15 and was a genius. Gone, but never forgotten.
