Cookie, a Wheaton Terrier missing in suburban Maryland since October 2014, was rescued Friday afternoon by animal service officers and Montgomery Country firefighters.
It seems the 30-pound dog was originally rescued from Thailand after escaping the "illegal dog meat trade." A neighbor discovered the dog around 2 p.m. Friday when his Great Dane pulled him toward the storm drain. The dog had some care in his year away from home -- he appeared well fed. The dog has been re-homed back to the the rescue, and will not be going back to the home from where he was lost.
