Ratting Auckland


This great picture of a Mr. Neil, an Auckland rat hunter, comes from Daniel Wining's blog, Living in the Anthropocene.  Check out the blog -- it's in my daily feed.

The picture below shows an old traditional Maori rat trap, in which the rat entered the cone (made of wrapped fronds), which triggered the bent stem part which snapped the snare. Ingenious!
