In Ireland
, of course, in a match against Australia. (Thanks Nate!)

  1. That's Gaelic football, not rugby.

  2. Thanks for that! Corrected title. Looked like round ball on cell phone, but news articles said "rugby," so I was confused. Never even heard of Gaelic football!

  3. Never heard of Gaelic football ! You and several million others ! I thought for a while that it was Australian rules football, but that uses an oval ball, and then at about 4 min I heard the commentator mention Gaelic football. From this little clip it looks like a fast, flowing game without the set pieces that can bog down rugby and American football.

Apart from the shape of the ball, the passing in all directions is a dead giveaway that it is not rugby, in which you can pass only backwards.

Dogs much prefer oval footballs, because they can grab them by the narrow end. Had they been playing with an oval ball the dog would have put in a better showing.
