An Interest in Dogs That Might Be Genetic

This is a picture of my mother and her prick-eared wire-haired terrier, named "Trouble" getting a dip in the creek in Longton, Kansas (population 348 in 2010).

This dog started quite a lot, as 75 years later our family has been double-dipped in terriers:  Border Terriers, Jack Russell Terriers, Welsh Terriers, Cairn Terriers, and quite a number of terriers of pedigree unknown.

This is my mother with Duke, one of my grandfather's hunting dogs, described as a Pointer, but from the era of horses, when the dogs were a great deal heavier than they are now.

Another picture of Trouble, this time a few years later on. My grandmother did a very nice oil portrait of Trouble -- my favorite of all her paintings.
