A Kennedy in Mali





John F. Kennedy  was sworn in as President
in January of 1961, and that same month Ted Kennedy, his youngest brother, went to Africa. One of his stops was Bamako, Mali where, fresh off the plane, he took tourist pictures as my father watched from inside the car. Ted Kennedy ran for Senate (and won) in 1962, when he turned 30.
