The Failed German Shepherds of Westminster

I am told that not one of the German Shepherds at Westminster has a title other than "conformation."  And the conformation of these dogs, as you can see, above, is TERRIBLE.  This poor dog -- the actual best GSD at Westminster -- is actually walking on his hocks.

And who is judging Best in Show this year?  None other than a Canadian paralegal who started breeding and showing German Shepherds and then went on to become a professional "handler," i.e. someone paid by the rich to walk their dogs around the ring with full knowledge that dogs are judged UP the leash, not down. 

Want to get to Westminster?  The way is paved with gold paid to professional handlers most of the time, and the dog you show will be judged by someone who, more likely than not, has been complicit in ruining a breed, not working it.  And is this year's crop of dogs and judges a perfect example of that?  You bet!
