Packing It In

Mountain with the pack, shovel and bar I carry into the field.  Not seen: the posthole digger.

My entire kit, with water, weighs quite a bit.  The bar is 10 pounds, the shovel 5, the posthole digger 15. Add in the saw, machete, water, snare, knife, tape, extra gloves, scraper, long-handled trowel, tie out stakes, and the pack itself, and I am carrying about 45 pounds I think.

The pack itself is terrific: A Brookwood Bow pack that is made in America.  It is very tough, and fits an Ames Pony shovel like it was made for it.
